The mother and baby assessment is the cornerstone of care at Monarch Centre. We assess mom and baby as a unit to ensure a soft landing for the whole family. There is so much to consider when making the transition to life with your new baby; at Monarch, our team is committed to assessing all areas of newborn and maternal health in one welcoming place. You’re in good hands.

For immediate postpartum care, we currently support follow up care from the Ottawa Hospital with a referral.

We are able to support mothers and babies in midwifery care as needed with a referral.

Babies are assessed typically within 24-48 hours of discharge from hospital, and are evaluated  for feeding, weight, hydration and jaundice. Babies also receive screening for metabolic and serious disease, if they have not yet received this screening in hospital.

Mothers receive a comprehensive post-partum assessment including but not limited to breastfeeding, bleeding, wound care, and mood.

At Monarch, we are uniquely positioned to coordinate your care between the hospital and your primary care provider in the community. Our multidisciplinary approach ensures that you are cared for in a way best suited to you, your baby, and your family. That’s the best start possible.
